Requirements to be met for Adoption Visa Australia

The 102 visas will only be granted to people who meet all the requirements stated by the Australian government.

For children

  • The candidate must be residing offshore while the application is being submitted

  • They must be under 18 years of age

  • They should already be adopted or in the process of being adopted

  • They should have an eligible sponsor (the sponsor being adoptive parents)

  • They must meet the health and character requirements of Australia 

For Parents

  • The parents must be Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, or New Zealand, citizens

  • They should either have adopted the child or initiated the process of adoption

  • They must have resided outside Australia for at least 12 months immediately before applying for an adoption visa

Other Requirements

  • The child must be adopted or in the process of being adopted by intercountry adoption with compulsory involvement of the Australian State/Territory Central Authority

  • The child must be adopted or in the process of being adopted by intercountry adoption between any two countries (excluding Australia) that are involved in the list of Hague Adoption Convention

  • The child must be adopted through expatriate adoption (no involvement of the Australian State/Territory Central Authority

 

The application is to be filed by the adoptive parent of the child. The cost of application is AUD 2,710 for the main applicant. Any dependents that are to be included will endure separate application costs.
