IRCC Express Entry Processing Time back to 6 Months’

A much-awaited announcement was recently made by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada regarding Express Entry System. Before the pandemic, Express Entry candidates enjoyed the benefits of the fastest PR immigration pathway offered by Canada. But this took a turn when the processing times were affected and in the latter part of 2020, the federal invitations stopped coming. This stretched to 2021 when Canadian Experience Class Draws also took a pause and since then, no update was made regarding the same.

This changed recently when Immigration Minister Sean Fraser made back-to-back great announcements regarding the economic class immigration pathways of Canada. The first announcement talked about FSWP & CEC Draws resuming. Draws for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and many more will resume in the first week of July 2022.

This news was followed by the latest announcement of bringing back the 6 month processing time. In these two years, many CEC & FSWP candidates experienced an exhausting delay in their application processing which not only resulted in hopelessness but also, the backlog for applications under this route was significantly increased. But with the new Immigration Level Plans being released for 2023-24, the government now aims to welcome the highest number of immigrants ever to Canada.

Therefore, it is of utmost importance to prepare your Express Entry Profile in time for all program draws to be returned in early July. However, it takes time to prepare the profile and upload it to the IRCC website, so you should consider starting the process now. It may take some time to book and complete a language test. In addition, some more time may be required to obtain an education qualification assessment (if needed) and collect other required documents. Time is important, so it's best to act proactively to avoid delays.
