With the new minimum fare increase taking effect on August 18, 2026, British Columbia is raising the bar on what ride-hailing firms may charge passengers throughout the province.
On February 18, 2026, the Passenger Transportation Board issued the new minimum rates for transportation network services, allowing businesses such as Uber and Lyft six months to reconfigure their systems.
Since the province implemented regulated ride-hailing in 2019, this is the first time B. C. has changed its ride-hailing minimum rates.
