The details of a novel algorithmic technique created to expedite the processing of study permit extensions in Canada were made available to the public by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on November 12, 2025.
The system, officially known as the Study Permit Extension Eligibility Model, is a step in the direction of “partial automation,” as defined by IRCC.
