Work Permit Extension for Temporary Foreign Worker’s Families

Observing the ongoing labor shortage in the Canadian market, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada have collaborated with the Canadian Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance to aid the families of the temporary foreign workers residing onshore. As a measure, the work permit Canada of the family of TFW will extend w.e.f. January 2023.

Canada work permit visa was originally provided only to temporary residents’ spouses whose primary applicant was employed in a high-skill occupation. However, this requirement is now being amended to allow all the workers in Canada an opportunity to stay close to their family members and take care of their physical health, emotional well-being, and maintain their financial status in Canada. The authorities believe that by doing so, the skilled and semi-skilled workers will be able to better fuse into their broad work environment and community.

Most popular category for Canadian Work Permit!

Formerly known as the Labor Market Opinion (LMO), the Labor Market Impact Assessment is an application that must be submitted by Canadian employers wishing to sponsor foreign skilled/semi-skilled workers. If current residents of Canada are unable to fill the vacancy, they will be given this opportunity.

How to apply for Work Permit Canada?

A labor market assessment is initiated by the employer, and the application is submitted online stating that the company/business has a vacancy that can only be filled by a foreign worker as current permanent residents are not eligible for the stated position. With the issuance of a positive LMIA, the employer will receive a letter of confirmation from the Canadian Employment and Social Development Agency (ESDC).

Other ways to enter Canada!

Another popular way to apply for a work permit in Canada is the express entry system wherein the eligible candidates are invited by the government of Canada for permanent residency. The Express Entry system is a program that works based on points awarded to applicants according to six key factors. Applicants must submit an EOI (Expression of Interest). This will be evaluated and verified by the IRCC and points will be awarded to the candidates under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Once the application has been submitted and evaluated, it will be moved to the Express Entry Pool, from which the top candidates with the highest CRS scores will be selected.

Just like express entry and work permits, the Canadian government allows more such streams for candidates to live, work, study, and settle in Canada. If you want to know more, you can get in touch with us to avail free visa consultancy.
