US extends green card validity for renewal applicants: Here's all you need to know about the key change

A significant policy change has been announced by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for lawful permanent residents who wish to renew their Green Cards. When an applicant submits Form I-90 to replace an expiring or expired card, USCIS will automatically extend the validity of Green Cards to 36 months starting in September 2023.

For those with a pending Form I-90, USCIS started producing updated receipt notices on September 10. The USCIS said, "These receipt notices can be presented as proof of continued status and employment authorisation with an expired Green Card."
