About Priority Skills Newfoundland & Labrador

The Provincial Nominee Program of Newfoundland and Labrador is a new one that mainly focuses on meeting the labor shortages prevailing in the market. The program aids local employers to fill in vacant job positions that they are unable to fill with the current residents of the province. The candidates who are highly educated in addition to being highly skilled with specialized work experience are given utmost preference under this program.

In order to be eligible to apply, the applicant must acquire minimum one year of prior work experience in the in-demand occupations other than meeting a few more requirements. This program is also open to post graduates who have successfully completed a Masters or Doctorate Degree at Memorial University in the past three years.

How to Apply for the Stream

The Priority Skills Stream works on the basis of an Expression of Interest System wherein the candidate makes a profile and fills in details asked by them. Following this, they are given points. Highest point scoring candidate has the most chances of receiving a nomination. Although provincial nomination does not mean that you instantly become a permanent residence but rather, you can use it to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency. If you score at least 60 points, your profile will automatically be visible to the province’s local employers registered in the same portal. Bear in mind that you do not require a job offer to apply for Priority Skills Newfoundland & Labrador Stream.
