Effective July 28, 2026, the Canadian government has formally abolished the ceiling on online passport renewal applications.
Without having to compete for a restricted number of daily spaces, every qualified adult Canadian citizen whose mailing address and residence are in Canada may now renew a passport completely online.
On Canada. ca, through the IRCC Portal, you can submit the application, a digitally taken passport photo for commercial use, and your payment online.
People who prefer or require mail-in or in-person services can still get them.
