The federal government has put forward a new privacy regulation that may drastically alter how businesses utilize your personal information in Canada, including restricting the practice of levying higher prices on you based on your browsing history, location, or buying patterns.
The Protecting Privacy and Consumer Data Act, commonly known as Bill C-36, was introduced in the House of Commons on June 15, 2026, by Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Evan Solomon.
