All six of Canada’s biggest banks have increased some fixed rates since the beginning of September, causing the country’s mortgage rates to rise once again in October 2026.
In tandem with BMO, which increased its 3-year and 5-year fixed rates on October 7, CIBC raised a number of fixed mortgage rates on October 9.
When RBC, Scotiabank, National Bank, TD, and CIBC all increased a number of chosen fixed mortgage rates over several terms in September, these most recent moves continue a larger round of rate hikes.
