The long-awaited delivery date for one of the biggest affordability deposits of 2026—a One-Time Groceries Benefit Top-Up Payment—has been formally confirmed by the federal government.
The Canada Revenue Agency said today from Vaughan, Ontario, that millions of Canadians who are already eligible for the GST/HST credit would receive a one-time top-up payment on Friday, June 5, 2026.
A far larger shift begins with the bonus deposit.
The new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit will formally replace the GST/HST credit on July 3, 2026, with quarterly payments increasing by 25% over the next five years.
