Published Date: 28th April 2022

In the latest Provincial Nominee Draw held by Canada, a considerable number of candidates were invited to apply for permanent residency.

Canada held their latest draw on 27 April 2022 for the Provincial Nominee Category of the Express Entry System. A total of 829 candidates were invited under the Canada Provincial Nominee Program which had the Comprehensive Ranking System Cutoff at 772 points. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada is inviting more and more people in Canada to apply for permanent residency. The officials nominated candidates who had previously applied to the Expression of Interest System. The candidates who received the invitation were granted 600 points which boosted their CRS Score drastically. The candidates can use the invitation to apply for permanent residency. Without the nomination points, the applicants would have had just 172 points.

You can the details of the last draws of the year here. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser recently released a revised immigration levels plan for 2022-24 wherein they stated their increased targets for accepting immigration applications in the coming years.

What is Canadian Express Entry System?

The Express Entry system is a program that functions based on the points allotted to the applicant according to six important elements. The applicant has to submit an EOI (Expression of Interest) that is then assessed and reviewed by IRCC who gives scores in terms of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), to the candidates. After the submission and assessment of the application, you enter the Express Entry Pool from which top candidates having the highest CRS Score are selected.

How will a Provincial Nomination help your Express Entry application?

The two major reasons why many people apply for the Provincial Nominee Program are: When you apply for a PNP you get the luxury of choosing from 80 different options provided by the different provinces. Although there can be some provinces that may or may not offer some of the streams they surely have an appropriate replacement. The options/streams are healthcare, tech, finance and accounts, human resource, etc. Another reason is, that the Comprehensive Ranking System gives you rank based on the points that you are allotted. There is a total of 1200 CRS points out of which whoever scores the highest has the most chances of getting an ITA. If you are approved by a province and have the nomination certificate for the same, you automatically get 600 more points in your CRS score which guarantees you approval for a permanent residency in Canada.

Canada Resumes FSWP & CEC Draws

Canada has been making positive changes to its immigration plans much faster than anticipated. A while back they eased the travel restrictions for visitors of all kinds to Canada. Now in the recent announcement made by the Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) plans on resuming the draws for all other economic-class pathways in early July of 2022. Draws for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and many more will resume in the first week of July 2022.

This makes it a perfect time for new and aspiring experienced workers to apply for Canadian permanent residency as soon as possible. The sooner you apply the faster your applications will be processed as the government also aims at bringing back the 6 months’ standard processing time which earlier stood at 7 months to 21 months due to the pandemic. The change is evident from the steps taken by IRCC at clearing the backlog of applications under the mentioned streams. By 2024, they plan on welcoming an extraordinary number of immigrants to the country.
