British Columbia Issues More Invitations to Tech Workers

BC Provincial Nominee Program started the year with a new round of invitations held on 4th January 2022.

British Columbia held their first tech draw of the year wherein they issued 102 Invitations to apply to the candidates who had their applications submitted under various streams. The occupations that benefitted from this draw were of IT sector. Skilled Workers and International Graduates were invited to apply for permanent residency. The invitees who had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System Score of 80 passed the eligibility criteria.

BC PNP Tech Pilot Program

The pilot program was started to help Tech employers in British Columbia to recruit and retain global talent if they are unable to fill in the job positions locally. It provides 29 tech occupations that are a fast tracked way for permanent residency. One just needs to receive a work permit support letter from the employer which allows them to apply for a work permit.

Eligibility Criteria

There are certain requirements regarding job offer that one must fulfill.

  • Although this program does not require a LMIA, you still must have a valid job offer.
  • You can qualify if your job offer is in one of the 29 selected in demand occupations.
  • Your job offer must be valid for at least one year.
  • If you are already working with the employer then you must have 120 days left in the current position before you submit your application under this pilot program.
